Just imagined rendering this in 3D Studio 1.0 on 486 and dropped a tear

“Only the highest quality porno music was used in the making of this video, with premius, advanced ‘90s CGI!”

Learned a couple of things watching that video. For one, I didn’t realize Alfa had done any boxer setups, I also didn’t realize how recently they still employed a love axle setup.

They ranged from 1.2 to 1.7L with 8 or 16 valves, produce 65-140hp, mounted longitudinally in all small FWD alfas from 1971 to 1997.

I mean the current rendering software is amazing but it won’t make me feel like this sort of stuff makes me feel.

I looked into buying a 1.5l version a few years back but would have only had FWD, 101hp and rust, so I settled for a newer Volkswagen Polo, 1.4l with 100hp, both sub 2100lbs so nippy rather than fast.

Not to mention fun for zipping around corners. Since we don’t have the Polo over here, how do you like it compared to, say, the Golf?

Hands down the most fun car I’ve had (worth noting that I have had a miata). I had it in my invincible years age 18-20, The 1.4 DOHC four used to rev frantically up to 7k. It wasn’t quick but the body roll and noise added to the sensation of speed, I used to lift off oversteer it everywhere I could, often cocking a wheel in the process. I got it wrong once, I had some crazy angle on a big roundabout in the wet then it suddenly gripped, I over corrected and spun off the roundabout hitting a kerb.

As for how it compares to a golf? (I conveniently own a Golf GTI now) It’s slightly smaller and the most power you could get from that generation was 125hp so not really fast but was a barrel of laughs, but was comfortable enough for most trips. It got totaled when I got rear ended while stationary by two bigger cars. I miss it dearly 3 years 4 months and 19 days after the crash.
